Farewell
It is with a sad heart that we farewell Max, Kevin and Nicole McFadden from the St Mary's School Community. Max, one of our much loved Year One students, will be finishing at St Mary's tomorrow. He and his family are moving to Penola in South Australia.
I would like to wish Max, and his family, a smooth and happy transition into their new school community.
Updating of Contact Details
Please let the school office know if you have recently moved, changed your mailing or postal address or contact details. This will ensure we have the correct information for your family.
Attendance Notification
With the roll-out of Compass, our new system-wide administration system, we now receive notifications when students have been marked absent for two or more days without parental justification.
It is really important for our school records that you let us know as soon as possible if your child/ren will be absent from school. Methods include Schoolzine or SZAPP, email or phone call.
Please help us to keep our records up-to-date.
Catholic Schools Week
This week we have been celebrating Catholic Schools Week. We started Monday with a lovely liturgy prepared by Mrs Skelly and presented by Year Six. The liturgy focused on why we love being part of St Mary's, a Catholic School.
Due to the inclement weather this week, some of our community visits have been postponed. We will reschedule these as soon as we are able.
Throughout the week I have also been conducting school tours. It is lovely to take families around and for them to be able to see first hand the great learning that is happening each day at St Mary's. Our new renovation makes it particularly easy to view the classes working without us having to interrupt.
NAPLAN
On Tuesday next week, 11 May, we will commence our NAPLAN testing. If students are away on test days we can reschedule their missed tests for when they return. We have up until Friday 21 May to have submitted all the assessments.
Following is a timetable for our tests.

Happy Mother's Day
I would like to wish all of our Mothers and Grandmothers a very happy Mother's Day for Sunday. I hope you enjoy a well-deserved rest being spoilt by those you love!
Religious Education with Mrs. Skelly
This Sunday is Mothers’ Day.
God our Creator, we pray:
for expectant mothers, wondering and waiting;
for new mothers, coming to terms with new responsibility;
for all mothers...
-who are tired, stressed or depressed;
-who struggle to balance the tasks of work and family;
-who are unable to feed their children due to poverty;
-whose children have physical, mental or emotional disabilities;
-who raise children on their own;
-who have lost a child;
-who care for the children of others;
-whose children have left home;
Bless all mothers, that their love may be deep and tender, and that they may lead their children to know and do what is good. May your loving hand guide them in the special work they do. Amen.

Legends Rugby League Gala Day
Due to the inclement weather forecasted for Tuesday, the organisers made the decision to postpone this event. The day is to be rescheduled for this term. Once a new date is set, we will communicate with those families who had previously entered their child.
Benefits of Exercise
Our students at St Mary’s are very lucky to be able to take part in a variety of sporting and fitness activities. Participating in exercise can have really positive effects for students in the classroom.
