Mission Day
What a wonderful day we had on Friday for our annual Mission Day! Many of our staff and students looked fabulous in their Vinnies attire. Congratulations to all the staff and students on the wonderful selection of activities. We raised $1277.15 for Catholic Missions, well done!

We are very lucky to have wonderfully experienced teachers and they are looking forward to building positive relationships and creating engaging learning opportunities for your children next year.
I would like to thank Mr. Dave Collinge for working with Year 5 this year. Dave built a wonderful rapport with his students and we have enjoyed having him here. Next year Dave will continue his early career teaching position at Ss. Peter and Paul's Goulburn. We wish him the best of luck.
I would like to congratulate Alison Cummins and Linda Walsh who were successful applicants for temporary positions for 2020. We were blessed with a large competitive field for the positions.
Next year we warmly welcome back Ashlee Picker in a part-time capacity. Ashlee will be teaching Year 6 one and a half days per week whilst Sally Croker fulfils her executive duties and Year one half a day per week whilst Alison is provided with early-career teacher release.
Parent Well-Being Workshop
Thank you to the parents who attend the Well-being Workshop on Wednesday afternoon. The session was very informative and the parents that attended commented upon how worthwhile it was. The staff also enjoyed a session with Amy, followed by one by Jacinta about essential oils and their many uses.
Orientation Day for Kindergarten 2020
On Monday we warmly welcomed our 2020 Kindergarten students for their Orientation Day. They had a wonderful day meeting their buddies, fellow students and teachers. The worked industriously and were very settled.
We look forward to welcoming all of our new students and their families into the St Mary's School Community.
The Magical Christmas Jigsaw
This year our Christmas Concert will be a performance of The Magical Christmas Jigsaw. This musical involves each class, piecing together the Nativity story.
The children will present two performances, a matinee on 4 December at 12pm for our local preschools and anyone who can not make the evening show, and an evening performance on Thursday 5 December at 6.30pm. All students are required for both performances. Please contact me if this is an issue.
Before the evening performance, families have the option of joining us for a Family BBQ from 5.30pm, hosted by our Year 6 families.
To assist with catering and preparation, an invitation with an RSVP slip and food order form have been sent home. Please return them, with cash payment, to the School Office by TOMORROW Friday 29 November.
Students will be having a dress rehearsal on Monday, so please send in the required items as soon as possible.
Crazy Hair Day
On Friday 6 December our students are invited to attend school with fun CRAZY HAIR, for a gold coin donation. This event is a fun fundraiser to assist Pat McRae's family with the many costs associated with travelling for treatments and to see specialist doctors. Pat, an ex-student of St Mary's, was diagnosed with a brain tumour this year. Pat will come along on this day to speak with Years 4-6 about his journey.

Advent
A time of watchful waiting and preparing our hearts to be ready for Jesus’ birthday on Christmas Day
Advent-Week1 Advent-Week2 Advent-Week3 Advent-Week4
1 December 8 December 15 December 22 December
The season of ADVENT, which leads us to Jesus’ birthday at Christmas, begins this Sunday.
Advent is a time for us to stop and reflect on our lives and our relationships (with God and each other). It is a time for us to consider the HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE Jesus can bring to our lives if we invite Him in. Are we in touch with our loving God, who gives us the will and the strength to be the best people we can for each other? Make some time in your day to reflect on these questions:
- Do we know God LOVES us PERSONALLY, DEEPLY, UNCONDITIONALLY?
- Do we give real time to God in order to KNOW this deep love? What about attending Mass?
- Are we aware when and how God blesses our day/our lives? Do we give thanks?
- How do we treat others? Could we listen more carefully, be more tolerant or understanding, more patient, more honest, kinder or less selfish?
- Do we need to say sorry and make things right?
We will be having a whole school Advent prayer in the school hall on Monday morning at 9am

The 2020 Fee Schedule has been set and passed by the School Board. There is an annual rise of the CEO Tuition Fee, which is set by the Catholic Education Office and out of our control. The school pays this fee to the Canberra Office and it assists with paying our staff. Our local levies will not increase for 2020.
Fees Explained
The Student Resource Levy covers all stationery, text materials, classroom paper, art and craft materials and sundry items purchased for the children and the classes.
The Utilities/Maintenance Levy covers the costs associated with the general running of the school itself. These include cleaning, gas and electricity, phone, mowing, waste disposal, etc.
Breakdown
The following fees schedule has been approved by the School Board for the 2020 school year and is reviewed annually.
CEO Tuition Fee $321.00 per family per term
Utilities/Maintenance Fee $132.00 per family per term
Building Levy $28.00 per family per term
Student Resource Levy $31.00 per student per term
ICT Levy $31.00 per student per term
This means the total cost for one child per term is $543.00
The total cost for two children or more per term is $605.00
The total cost for three children or more per term is $667.00
Please note that the Tuition Fee, Utilities Maintenance Fee and Building Levy, as listed above, are a ‘per family price’ meaning that subsequent children enrolled at St Mary’s do not pay these fees/levies.
There is a 50% discount on the Tuition Fee if a sibling attends an Archdiocesan Systemic secondary school and no charge for a 4th, or subsequent, child attending a Systemic primary, central or secondary school.
In accordance with Archdiocesan Policy no child will be denied a Catholic Education on the basis of a family’s inability to pay fees. Circumstances of genuine financial hardship should be discussed with the Principal.
Options available to pay:
Fees can be paid in a number of ways- direct debit, BPAY, utilising our Qkr! app, cash, cheque or credit card via BPoint. Fees can be paid per term, monthly, fortnightly or weekly.
Direct debit payment can be organised by completing paperwork collected from the School Office which requires your account details and the amount to be debited per week. Please remember when using this option, payments are based on a 52-week, 26 fortnight or 12 monthly period. Therefore, to ensure your fees are up to date at the end of the school year, the following minimum amounts should be considered:
One child Two children Three or more children
Weekly: $41.77 $46.54 $51.31
Fortnightly: $83.54 $93.08 $102.62
Monthly: $181.00 $201.67 $222.33
If you have any questions regarding the fees, more information on how they are used or queries regarding payment amounts, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office for more information.
If one of your children will be attending a Catholic systemic school in 2020, please let Belinda know so the sibling discount can be applied.

Christmas Masses
Sunglasses
By popular request, we now stock a trendy pair of St Mary's sunglasses. The sunglasses are manufactured by a Bowral-based school teacher who recognised the need of protecting our children's eyes from harmful UV rays. More about his business is below.
The glasses come with a hardy protective case and a space for their names so they can't be lost. These will be available for $15 per pair and can be ordered by Qkr.
Opening Days
The uniform shop will open as normal every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of term.
We will have the uniform shop open for appointments only on Wednesday 22 January from 10am-2pm, however bookings must be made via: https://smpscrookwell.schoolzineplus.com/view-session/7
It will also be open on Tuesday 28 January from 12.00pm to 3.00pm. No appointments are necessary.
Size 8 Girls Summer Dresses
Please be advised there will be a small delay with size 8 girls summer dresses. Once they are available, they will again be visible on Qkr. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
Tuckshop Roster
Remember more hands means lighter work, so if everyone was able to do one day per term it would reduce the load for others. The children appreciate your time!
Silent Auction
The P&F is conducting a silent auction for a beautifully framed signed 2019 Manly Warringah Sea Eagles jersey. It would make a great Christmas present for your favourite Manly supporter! If you would like to make a bid on this item, contact Belinda in the Office. The jersey will also be placed on Facebook and an updated current bid (but not the bid holder) will be advertised weekly. The current bid is $500. The auction will close on Wednesday 18 December and the prize will be presented at the Year 6 Final Assembly and Awards Ceremony.
You may call into the School Office to view the jersey during office hours.
