Swimming Carnival
What a wonderful day we had last Friday at Boorowa. Everyone who attended remarked on the facilities available to us and how well organised they were. Staff assisted us in navigating some hiccups with a new recording system we have acquired which made timekeeping and recording of results so much easier and streamlined. My thanks to Mr Edwards who coordinated the events for the day and all Staff who supported him to keep the timetable happening. Thanks also to the parents who volunteered to time-keep our Primary events.
Age Champions will be announced at our Assembly tomorrow morning at 9:05am.
Our St Mary's Northern Region team have been notified via Compass. Please ensure this is completed by Tuesday 20 Feb for the Carnival at Yass on Thursday 22 Feb.

Show BBQ
This year's team of parents worked together to produce another successful BBQ for our Annual AP&H Show. My thanks to our committee and the members who gave up their time to ensure the BBQ was manned and running smoothly. I would especially like to thank Craig and Elise Croker, Ally and Brendan Hewitt, Adam and Tennille McIntosh and Rechell Naughton for their planning, ordering and coordination on both days. This year was the last for Rechell after way too many to count. She will be greatly missed as her drive and enthusiasm are hard to replace!
There are plenty more opportunities for parents to be involved with fundraising for our school this year. We are more than grateful for your support and cooperation in this endeavour.
School Hours
Student supervision commences at 8.40am and concludes at 3.30pm. The first morning bell rings at 9.00am and the students are dismissed, at the end of the school day, at 3.10pm. For students requiring earlier morning supervision, Morning Club is available from 8.00am in the Library every Monday - Thursday ONLY. Please complete the following booking form if your child will be attending Morning Club.

Absence from School
If your child is away from school due to illness, an appointment or other pressing family necessity, please fill in the absentee form via the Compass parent portal (this is the preferred method).
If you are unable to access this, please contact the School Office via email or phone, or send in a note as soon as possible.
Change of Arrangement
Please notify our Office Manager Belinda via a phone call, email or note if there are any changes in routine, such as how your child is travelling home, day-time appointments, etc. This information will be passed on to your child’s teacher and placed in the 'Bus Book'. This notification can also occur via the Compass parent portal.
Crossing/Parking/Drop-off and Pick-up
Unfortunately, we regularly see a misuse of the DROP OFF Zone. It is a zone that is regulated by law and also one that involves courtesy to all other users. Drivers must not leave the vehicle and are only permitted to pull in to drop and pick up. It is not a PARKING ZONE.
Please help us keep our students safe with your diligence to road rules and safe use of the pedestrian crossing. You will notice signs to assist you with the drop-off and pick-up regulations as directed by NSW Government. Please note the PDF attached for clarification of the driver obligations.
All students are required to cross at the Crossing on Wade St and Colyer St. Both these crossings are teacher-supervised every afternoon. At NO stage are there to be students, parents or carers crossing the road in between cars and buses.
2024 Welcome Function - SAVE THE DATE
Please join us to begin the new school year with a fun-filled morning of 'old time' novelty games and races after Mass on St Patrick's Day, Sunday 17 March. The theme is green, green, green !! We hope to see many of our families there. More details to follow.
Leave
I would like to let you know that I will be taking leave from Thursday 22 Feb. I will return Tuesday 5 March and will then be headed to Bowral for the Principal's Retreat and Conference from 6 - 8 March.
This is leave that I had planned during mid-2023. Mrs Therese Skelly will be Acting Principal in my absence.
Contact
Teachers are your first port of call for questions and queries pertaining to the classroom. Appointments can be made with your child's classroom teacher by calling the Office.
I am also happy to support you in any way I can. Typically problems that are addressed quickly, in partnership, are the easiest to solve. I will be available on the school phone (48321 592) for calls usually from 8.30am - 4.30pm daily or via email within similar hours. The email address to be used to contact any staff member is office.stmarysc@cg.catholic.edu.au
Emails sent out of hours may not be responded to until the following day.
If you wish to make an appointment to see me, please contact Belinda in the Office.

Making Jesus Real through RESPECT
We are made in God’s image. We each have a God-given dignity. Every one of us is precious and has the right to be valued, cared for and respected. Each of us also has the responsibility to respect others. No one knew this better than Jesus. He was the first to tell humankind to love our neighbour. And he lived his life according to this. Every thought, word and deed reflected his love and respect for every single person, even his enemies.
Catholics believe human beings are not only made in God’s image but are made to be channels of god’s love with the help of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. They believe that Jesus works through people and creation to bring goodness and peace.
As a Catholic school, we look to Jesus as our model. We are His representatives, and our actions should reflect His values. We are to be the image of Jesus. We are to MAKE JESUS REAL to all those around us. Making Jesus Real is a way of life that allows students to see Jesus working in their lives through people and creation. It is about being a witness and sharing Jesus’ love with others.
This week we have been learning to MAKE JESUS REAL in our school by being W.E.S.T people.
Respecting others by:

School Sport with Mr James Edwards
We are thrilled to share the splashing success of our recent St Mary's School Swimming Carnival held at the Boorowa Swimming Centre! Our first time at the Boorowa Swimming Centre and it was a day filled with enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments as our students’ made waves in the water.
From the first dive to the final lap, our students demonstrated remarkable skill, determination, and teamwork, making this year's carnival one to remember.
We are delighted to announce that Aloysius House emerged as the overall winner, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the carnival. Let's give them a round of applause for their fin-tastic achievement! But let's not forget to give a big shout out to Lawrence House for their great effort as well! They dove in with determination and swam their hearts out, showing us all what it means to be true water warriors
Of course, we cannot forget to congratulate all our swimmers, regardless of the house they represent. From the butterfly to the backstroke, you all made a splash and showed us the true meaning of sportsmanship. Give yourselves a pat on the back (or a high-five in the pool).
Our sincere gratitude to all the parents who dove into the action (literally and figuratively) and helped make the carnival a success. Your support and enthusiasm kept the energy high and the smiles wide throughout the day. We couldn't have done it without you!
As we celebrate the achievements of our school swimming carnival, we also look ahead to the next exciting challenge. Congratulations to all the swimmers who have qualified to represent St Mary's School at the upcoming NR Swimming Carnival. Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and we wish you the best of luck as you continue to pursue excellence in the pool!
As we wrap up this year's swimming carnival, let's remember that in the pool of life, every stroke counts. Whether you're swimming laps or navigating the currents of challenges, keep pushing forward and never be afraid to make a splash!
