Christmas Concert - Tonight!
We look forward to welcoming everyone to school this evening for our Christmas Concert and family picnic. The P&F will provide a barbeque dinner (steak and sausage sandwiches), and the canteen will be open for window sales from 5.30 pm. If you are able to assist with this, please contact Reané Strode, Daniel Walsh or Alison Hewitt.
The concert will commence in the sails area (weather permitting) at around 6.15 pm, after everyone is fed and settled. Each class will present two songs within the nativity narrative presented by Year Six students. If the weather is too wet or cool, we will move the performance into our Old Hall.
We invite you to bring your own fold-up seats and eskys with your preferred refreshments. Drinks can also be purchased from the tuckshop.
Please face your chairs towards the MP Hall when setting up and leave the ramp and MP Hall verandah clear.
Year Six Graduation Events
It is coming very close to the time that we, sadly, farewell our Year Six class. This year our Year Six Graduation events will occur next Monday, 12 December. The occasion will commence at 5.30pm with the Graduation Mass at St Mary's Catholic Church, followed by dinner, the Awards Presentation and Final Assembly at the Services Club for Year Six students, parents/carers/adult guests and staff.
Final Assembly
The Year Six class will present their Final Assembly on the last day of school, Friday, 16 December, at 12.30 pm. The recipients of Awards will be re-acknowledged at this Assembly. This will be a repeat of the Monday evening performance.
End-of-Year School Mass and Leadership Changeover Ceremony
This week our Year Five students have been capably presenting themselves to our student body as possible School Captains and Sport Captains for 2023. The voting will occur tomorrow, Friday, 2 December. As is the long-held tradition, the Captains are student-elected, and staff do not vote.
The 2023 Captains will be announced at our End of Year School Mass and Changeover Ceremony held on Thursday, 15 December, at 9.30 am. Parents and carers are welcome to attend.
Please note that as Fr Joshy will be away during the first few weeks of Term 1, the badges will be blessed and presented at this Mass. Year Five parents and family are welcome to attend morning tea in the staffroom after the presentation.
Semester Two Student Reports
On Monday, 12 December, you will receive your child's Semester Two Progress Report and Work Sample Folder.
Your child’s Work Sample Folder will contain work samples taken from a variety of learning areas across the semester. There will be a variety of draft and published pieces so that you can see your child’s everyday work standards.
If you have any questions about either of these progress documents, please make an appointment to see your child’s classroom teacher.
Athletics Carnival
It was wonderful to see so many of our families and friends last Friday at our school Athletics Carnival.
Once again, I was very impressed to see the students giving their events their all, encouraging others and trying things outside their comfort zone. Congratulations to all of the students who participated.
Thank you to all of our parent helpers, assisting with track and field events and leading age groups. Thank you to our Year One fundraising event coordinators, Reané Strode and Daniel Walsh, and all their helpers in the canteen and on the BBQ. Without all of you, the day could not have gone ahead.
I would also like to acknowledge Rachael Croker for her coordination of the event and all the staff.
Tomorrow, at our Friday morning assembly, the event ribbons and age champion medallions will be presented.
Community Christmas Carols
Our students have been invited to sing some Christmas Carols at the Taralga and Crookwell Community events.
On Sunday, 11 December, at 6 pm, the students, accompanied by Mrs Alison Cummins, will sing at Christ the King Church in Taralga.
On Saturday, 17 December, we have been invited to perform at the Crookwell Memorial Oval at 6 pm. The students will be accompanied by Harriet Lowe.
If your child is able to participate in one or both of these events, please complete the eform below.

ADVENT- Get Ready for Jesus’ Birthday
This Sunday is the third Sunday of Advent and it is traditionally called Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means “rejoice” in Latin. At the beginning of this Sunday’s Mass we say: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice! The Lord is near.” (Philippians 4:4,5). We light the third candle on the Advent wreath. This candle is pink and is called the Shepherd’s Candle.’ We reflect on the joy the shepherds felt at the birth of Jesus.
"And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them." Luke 2:20
We too are filled with joy for the near arrival of Jesus on Christmas day.
Dear Jesus,
help us focus on you during this busy season.
May we stay aware of the joy you bring into our lives.
We want to find you in the everyday moments
and come with hearts of gratitude to your manger on Christmas.
Amen.
Please help- choir members needed for Year Six Mass
Our Year 6 students’ graduation Mass and dinner are this coming Monday night. We are looking for students in Years 3,4 or 5 to form a choir for the Mass (at 5:30pm). Mrs Skelly can provide transport home from the Mass if students are in town.

Mackillop Cricket
Congratulations to Year Four student, Henry Galland, who has been selected in the 2023 MacKillop Cricket teams to play at the NSWPSSA Cricket Championships from the 6th - 9th of March.
What a fabulous achievement and best of luck at the NSWPSSA Championships.
Touch Football
It was a great day in Canberra yesterday for the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Touch Football trials. Congratulations to Year 4 student, Sienna Gann, who attended and showed some fabulous touch skills. She was selected to play in the possible/probables game but was not successful in gaining a spot for further trials. We hope she takes this experience and uses it again next year.

School Athletics Carnival
How blessed we were to have such lovely conditions for our carnival on Friday.
It was wonderful to see the students so enthusiastically taking part in the events, supporting their peers and cheering for their respective houses. What a wonderful way to end our 2022 sporting calendar!
Once again, carnivals would not run as smoothly without the assistance of our wonderful volunteers. Thank you to:
- Team managers
- Time keepers
- Infants helpers
- Primary helpers
- Canteen and BBQ volunteers
- Canteen and BBQ coordinators
- Our amazing teachers and support staff
There was such a positive and fun-filled atmosphere on Friday, which was led very ably by our Lawrence and Aloysius Sports Captains. Congratulations to Aloysius, who were victorious on the day.
Sommer, Toby, Ava and William have done an outstanding job this year. They have had the sports cage organised and itemised, they came to each carnival with tubs of green and yellow wonders, and have led the war cries with such vigour, often resulting in loss of voices.
You have all been a great asset to your houses and to our school. Next year's Sports Captains have very big shoes to fill.
Sport 2023
I would like to take the opportunity to wish Mrs Walsh all the best for her role in coordinating school sports from 2023.
Please mark the 2023 school swimming carnival in your diaries:
