Principal Talk with Mrs Lowe

Building Works

Yesterday I had a meeting with the Builders, Architects, Chairman of Our School Board and Catholic Education Office. I am very excited to announce that the building site will be established and work will commence soon.
For us, this means we need to now relocate our classes in the Mercy Building to other spaces in the school.
The following is a list of our relocation spaces -
Year One - Library
Year Two - Old Parish Meeting Room
Year Three - Part of the MP Hall
Year Four  - Staffroom
Year Five - Computer Laboratory
Staffroom - Art Area
Star Room - MP and Old Halls
Morning Club will continue in the Old Hall.

The moves will happen quite quickly so to ensure minimal disruption to classroom routines.
Our students will have their specialist Music and Library/ICT classes in their allocated rooms until the building work is complete.
The front of the school will be fenced off during the project- only leaving the gate near our Mary statue open for students, staff and families. The Office door will not be accessible. Anyone wishing to access the Office is to go through the side or front door of the Old Hall. We apologise for the inconvenience that this will cause.
We are very excited about the project. Each of our classrooms in the Mercy Building will be completely refurbished with new carpet, lowered lighting and fans, reverse cycle air conditioning and heating, autex and paint on the walls and large glass sliding doors.
In the corridor, there will be two new wet areas, breakout-spaces for classrooms and plenty of storage for books, guided readers and craft supplies.
There will also be two new store-rooms, a learning support room, covered verandah and ramp.

This project will be funded by the Australian Government under the Capital Grants Program, with a grant of $417,803. Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn will be supporting the project with a $900,000 contribution and the school will be contributing $100,000.

We are very thankful for Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn, the Federal Government and Catholic Schools NSW for supporting our application for this project. And to our architects Dutallis Randall for all the work they have done designing the new spaces.

Uniform Matters

I believe we have a lovely uniform that should be worn with pride. A reminder that:

  • shirts must be tucked in at all times
  • top buttons and ties are done up
  • coats should only be purchased from the school uniform
  • hair ribbons/scrunchies/headbands should only be school colours
  • black 'sand shoe' style school shoes do not comply with our uniform policy
  • only stud or sleeper style earrings are acceptable and
  • no jewellery, other than a crucifix can we worn

Your support with these matters is appreciated.
