Welcome to the Skinner Family
I would like to offer a very warm welcome to the Skinner Family to St Mary's Primary School Community. Kaylee commenced in Year 4 last week. We wish the Skinner family a smooth transition into St Mary's and Crookwell life.
Annual Improvement Plans
Each year the staff work towards setting goals for school improvement. These goals are informed by our data, survey results and system priorities.
This year our three main goals focus on Wellbeing of students, parents and staff; Teaching and Learning, in particular, Explicit Instruction; and Student Engagement focusing on feedback, collaboration, learning spaces and resources.
Below is a flyer that highlights the way our areas of improvement all fit together.
Tennis Coaching Skills
Next Monday, 24 February, Years 3 - 6 will commence Tennis coaching sessions with David Ridland. These will continue for five weeks, with the final session being held on 23 March. Primary students are to wear their sports uniform each Monday (instead of Friday) for these weeks. The exception will be for our Cross Country Carnival on Friday 13 March. Students will wear their sports uniform twice that week, on Monday and Friday.
Parents & Friends Association
Thank you to all the parents who came along to the P & F AGM and General Meeting on Tuesday night. Once again a strong P & F Executive team has been formed. We also have generous volunteers to oversee the Tuckshop, Cattle Fund and class fundraising events for 2020.
Congratulations to Daniel Walsh who has been re-elected to the position of President and Craig Croker, Rechell Naughton and Catherine Culley who will support him in their role as Vice Presidents. We also welcome back Allison Hewitt who has taken on the position of Treasurer and Mellissa Haynes who has again accepted the role of Secretary. Our sub-committee coordinators are James McCormack- Cattle Committee and Daria Lawson- Tuckshop.
At this meeting, most classes were allocated a fundraising event for the year. (See P & F News in this Newsletter.) You will receive information about your class event, from the coordinator, as the year progresses.
Thank you to all our parents for your consistent support of St Mary’s P & F events.
'You Can Do It!' Program
This year classes from Years One - Year Six have commenced with 'You Can Do It!' (YCDI) a Personal Development and Health - Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Program. This program provides resources and training programs designed to strengthen the personal, social and performance capabilities of people of all ages.
The YCDI programs are designed to provide educators and parents with the learning tools to boost success, improve relationships, reduce stress, and promote optimal levels of wellbeing.
YCDI is an Australian program developed by Professor Michael Bernard, from the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.
The program explicitly teaches and develops skills with confidence, persistence, organisation, getting along and resilience.
To learn more about the program you can visit the website. It contains useful articles and resources for parents as well.
School Fees
The Term One school fee accounts have been emailed out this week. Please check to ensure you have recevied yours. If you would prefer a print copy please let Belinda know.
Fees are due by Week 7, Friday 13 March, unless a regular direct debit setup is in place.
The Tuition Fee for St Mary’s is set annually by the Catholic Education Commission. This non-negotiable fee is paid by the school to the Catholic Education Office in Canberra each term.
The School Board sets levies for Building, Utilities and Maintenance, Resources and Technology, as part of the process of forming the annual school budget.
The Resource Levy covers all stationery, text materials, classroom paper, art and craft materials and sundry items purchased for the children and the classes. The Utilities Levy covers the costs associated with the general running of the school itself. These include cleaning, gas and electricity, upkeep of the yards and gardens, phone, mowing, waste disposal etc.
The payment of your account within the allocated time is greatly appreciated. Payment can be made in full or via regular direct deposits. Please see Belinda for assistance with this.
If, at any time, you are having difficulty paying your school account, please make an appointment to see me.
