PARENTS AS PARTNERS

School Fees

A kind reminder to ensure your school fee account is up to date as we head to the end of term.

Fees can be paid using the BPAY details on your latest statement, via the Parent Portal in Compass, cash or cheque. Sometimes payments are easier when set up as a regular payment.

If you would like to discuss your school fee account, please do not hesitate to contact Belinda or Sally.

Semester One Reports Available Monday 1 July

Your child's Semester One Report will be available for you to access via the Compass app next Monday, 1 July. This comprehensive report provides valuable insights into your child's academic progress, highlighting their achievements and areas for further development.

We believe that open communication between home and school is essential for the success of our students. If you have any questions or require clarification regarding the report or your child's progress, please don't hesitate to contact your child's class teacher. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way.

At St Mary's, we follow the NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum, ensuring our students receive a well-rounded education aligned with national standards. The Semester One Report evaluates your child's performance across various subject areas, offering a comprehensive overview of their growth and learning throughout the term.

We employ the A-E grading scale for students in Years One to Six to provide a clear and informative assessment. Please note that the A-E scale represents different levels of achievement as follows:

A - The student has extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

B -The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

C - The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main content areas and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.

D - The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved limited competence in the processes and skills.

E - The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few content areas and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.

The report will provide a detailed breakdown of your child's performance in key subjects, including Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, History, Creative and Performing Arts, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. Additionally, it will include information about their engagement with learning and a comment from your child's teacher, highlighting their successes and suggestions for further growth. We encourage you to carefully review and discuss the report with your child, offering support and encouragement as they continue their educational journey.

Excursions

Last week Kinder and Year One attended the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre to watch a production of "How to Catch a Falling Star".After that, they went to Victoria Park for a well-earned play and picnic lunch. Thanks to Miss O'Brien, Mrs Cumimns and Mrs O'Brien for enjoying the day with them!

"On Friday, Year One and Kinder went to see How to Catch a Star. My favourite part was when he was snoring because it was very loud. After the show, we went to the park. My favourite part was when I went down the big slide. Finally, we went back to school."

Working Bee

A huge THANK YOU to all who gave of their time last weekend to answer the call for help in our gardens. There was a small group who came on Saturday and Sunday to trim, tidy and remove areas of the school gardens that had become overgrown and unmanageable. Special mentions to the Culley, Naughton, Reeves, Handley, Hewitt (x2), McIntosh, Storrier, Millett, McCormack and Croker families. There are plenty more jobs to be done!

Indigenous Workshops

Lachie Eviston, our Indigenous Officer from CE, visited St Mary's recently. He worked with all classes in small workshops sessions. In those sessions he shared many Aboriginal tools, musical instruments, stories and artefacts.
They talked about Yarning Circles and marvelled at the mob maps represented on the map of Australia.
Lachie has promised to come back and spend more time with us very soon.
