Term Two Thank You!
As we end Term 2, I am pleased to write to you all to celebrate our students' incredible efforts and achievements during Semester One. It has been wonderful to witness many accomplishments, and I am very proud of each and every one of our students.
First and foremost, I want to extend my congratulations to our students for their outstanding dedication, hard work, and determination. Your commitment to academic excellence and personal development has been inspiring. You have demonstrated your passion and drive by excelling in the classroom, participating in extracurricular activities, or showcasing your talents in various events. Your achievements are a testament to your resilience, enthusiasm, and unwavering support from your families and our dedicated staff.
Speaking of families, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the parents and guardians. Your continued support, guidance, and involvement in your child's education has played a pivotal role in their success. Your commitment to their growth and learning is commendable, and I am grateful for the partnership we share in shaping their future. Your dedication to their well-being and education is invaluable.
A special thank you goes out to our Parent and Friends Association, whose tireless efforts have enriched the school community. Your support in organising events, fundraisers, and providing resources has greatly enhanced the overall experience for our students. Your countless hours of volunteering and dedication to fostering a strong sense of community are deeply appreciated.
I would also like to thank our School Board for their guidance and support. Your wise decision-making has been instrumental in creating an environment that nurtures excellence in education.
Lastly, but certainly not least, a big round of applause to our dedicated staff. Your hard work, expertise, and dedication have been instrumental in creating an enriching and supportive learning environment for our students. Your commitment to their growth- academically, socially, and emotionally- is truly remarkable. Your passion for teaching and the countless hours spent planning, mentoring, and inspiring our students have not gone unnoticed.
The Catholic Education Office sent their Senior Officer and Lead of Teaching and Learning this term. Patrick Ellis, and a professional videographer, spent time at school to capture the great learning that is taking place at St Mary's. As we conclude Semester One and head into the much-deserved two-week winter break, I encourage you to take this time to relax, recharge, and spend quality time with your loved ones. Use this opportunity to explore new interests, pursue hobbies, and create lasting memories. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term Three, refreshed and ready to continue the journey of knowledge and growth.
I look forward to seeing you all upon my return on 8 August.
Baby News!
Congratulations to Stacey, Marty, and their family, on the safe arrival of a baby boy. We can't wait to meet the latest addition to the Reynolds family soon!
Last weekend, Mrs Jenny McCarthy welcomed a new member to her family, a granddaughter named Harriet. Congratulations to Dominic and Katie!
This week Madi Burns, our School Counsellor, announced the exciting news of the impending arrival of her first child in December. We wish Madi and her partner the best of luck!
Street Stall
I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to our Kindergarten families, and event coordinator, Reané Strode, for your exceptional organisation and coordination of the P&F fundraising Street Stall last Saturday. Your dedication and hard work truly paid off!
The Street Stall and Wood Raffle were tremendous successes, raising an incredible $2014.40! This remarkable achievement wouldn't have been possible without your tireless efforts and commitment to making a difference within our school community.
I would also like to extend my warmest congratulations to Jack Strode for being the lucky winner of the wood. The lucky ticket was drawn by Brianna from the Crookwell IGA. May this prize bring warmth and joy to Jack's home.
Your dedication and generosity exemplify the true spirit of our school community. Your contributions will undoubtedly go a long way in enhancing all our student's educational experiences and opportunities. The funds raised will help support various initiatives and projects that benefit our children directly.

Is your little one starting school in 2024? Help them embark on an exciting educational adventure with 'The School Explorers' commencing in Term 3 on Friday, 18th August, at St Mary's Primary School!
'The School Explorers' is a comprehensive school readiness program designed to familiarise children commencing school in 2024 with our caring staff, friendly students, state-of-the-art facilities, and the exciting world of the NSW curriculum key learning areas. This program aims to make the transition to primary school smooth, enjoyable, and filled with confidence!
Here's what "The School Explorers" program has to offer:
Curated Curriculum Exploration: Our experienced and passionate educators will guide your child through a series of interactive and hands-on activities, providing them with a head start in key learning areas such as literacy, numeracy, science, technology and creative arts. Term Three Public Speaking Competition
The upcoming School Public Speaking Competition will take place on Tuesday, 8th August. This event promises to be a wonderful showcase of our students speaking skills and confidence!
In Week Two or Three of next term, each student will have the opportunity to present a speech to their class. This allows our students to gain valuable experience in public speaking within a comfortable and familiar setting. It also allows them to engage with their peers, share their ideas, and practice their communication skills.
The speech topics are as follows:
Year 3 - My backyard - 2 minutes
Year 4 - Sport brings us together - 2 minutes
Year 5 - Learning from the past - 3 minutes
Year 6 - Difficult journeys - 3 minutes
Following the class presentations, five representatives from each year group will be chosen to present their speeches to the entire school on Tuesday, 8th August. These finalists will compete to be one of the two chosen speakers for their respective year groups.
The selected speakers from our school will then move on to represent St Mary's at the Northern Region Public Speaking Competition on Friday, 18th August. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and compete with other schools in the region.
We encourage all students to participate enthusiastically in their class presentations and make the most of this valuable learning experience. Public speaking enhances communication skills and boosts confidence, critical thinking, and self-expression.
Parents and families are welcome to attend the school competition and show their support for our budding speakers.
We will provide further details about the schedule and logistics of the the Public Speaking Competition closer to the date. Please keep an eye out for additional information next term.
Long Service Leave - Term Three
I am excited to share the news that I will embark on Long Service Leave for the first three and a half weeks of Term 3. I will attend the Australian Primary Principals Association Conference in Hobart during this time. Before the conference, my husband and I plan to take a short trip around Tasmania.
While I will undoubtedly miss being a part of the vibrant St Mary's community during this period, I have full confidence in our dedicated staff to ensure the smooth running of the school. I am pleased to announce that Mrs Sally-Anne Croker, our esteemed Assistant Principal, will be acting as the Principal in my absence. Mrs Croker brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our school's values and vision. I have no doubt that St Mary's will continue to thrive under her capable leadership and provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.
During my leave, Mrs Croker will be supported by our exceptional team of teachers and support staff, who will be available to address any queries or concerns. Rest assured; they will do their utmost to maintain the high standards and caring environment that define our school.
While away, I will miss the daily interactions with the students, parents, and staff members who make St Mary's a warm and welcoming community. However, I look forward to returning refreshed and invigorated, armed with new insights and ideas from the conference, which will further enrich our school's educational experiences.
