Term 2 Art Focus Days
Eric Carle
The students have been learning about Author and Illustrator Eric Carle this term. Eric Carle (1929-2021) was an American-born artist. He spent most of his childhood in Germany and attended art school there, studying graphic design.
He later moved back to New York and worked for the New York Times.
One day a friend asked him to illustrate a book for him; this was the beginning of his true career.
After helping his friend Eric, he thought he could write his story and artwork.
His first book was “The Very Hungry Caterpillar “ which sold over 44 million copies.
The artwork in his books uses a combination of collage and painting.
His books are loved by children all over the world.
