Just Dance
Students from Kindergarten to Year Six who have chosen to participate in the ‘Just Dance‘ Club will cover two types of dance styles over two weeks, line dancing and hip hop.
The lessons are created specifically to cater to individual years, with support being provided to the K-3 years from students in Years 5/6 acting as support buddies.
The lessons begin with some warm-up dancing and then a slow tutorial of line dancing in week one and hip hop in week two. The program helps increase the students' confidence.
Why is dance good for children?
Dance is a great form of exercise for children that strengthens their muscles and bones. It improves coordination and flexibility with the bonus of children gaining an understanding of spatial awareness. Dance promotes important social-emotional skills through acceptance, respect and teamwork, building confidence and creating friendships through social interaction.
'Just Dance' prides itself on it's inclusiveness of all students of all dance abilities, with the most important rule to “have fun and just dance”.
