Welcome
This week we welcome Mrs. Claire McCormack in the role of teacher librarian whilst Mrs Dorothea Hewitt takes Long Service Leave. Isabelle Davis, Megan Picker and Lyndall Whittle have all joined our casual teacher list. We are thankful to have them all on-board. Tomorrow we welcome back Jayme O'Brien, who has just completed her final teaching placement at St Joseph's. Jayme will pick up some casual days with us as she finalises her university degree. We also welcome Grace Cummins who is in Year 4 for her teaching practicum experience.
Parent Talk - Tips for Managing Your Child's Technology
Monday afternoon our school counsellor offered some excellent information about how to manage technology usage, safety and settings. This workshop gave practical tips on setting safe and healthy practices.
Unfortunately, no parents attended this workshop, however, the staff attended and picked up lots of tips.
Madi has included some information about the session in the Newsletter and the slide deck is available upon request.
Term 3 Value - Compassion
At nearly every morning assembly this term, the students have told me that we are striving for 'compassion' and I have been thrilled to hand out many School Spirit Awards to students who have been demonstrating that care through their daily actions.
As we near the end of the term, I would really like us all as a community to look after one another. There has been a succession of illnesses coupled with gloomy wet days. This has meant many play breaks inside. This can become draining on our students, staff and families both physically and mentally.
Jesus teaches us to 'Love one another' John 13:35. It's a lesson that, if practised, would solve all of our problems, big and little. We are called to see others with eyes of compassion, to imagine walking in the shoes of another before judging them and to view each situation through a loving lens. We need to realise that the only thing we can change is our actions, we cannot change others. When we do this, it is often pleasantly surprising to see the result.
Samaritan's Purse - Operation Christmas Child
Each year, St Mary's supports the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Box by asking for donations to help fill shoeboxes with various items such as gifts, clothes, something for school and hygiene products to send to children overseas.
If you are able to help with donating items, or money to assist with the postage of the boxes, please send these items in with your child.
I would like to wish our fathers, grandfathers and other significant male role models a very happy Father's Day on Sunday. Thank you for all you do to support your children on a daily basis.
