This term in Performing Arts we have been starting our lessons with music. As we can’t sing or chant due to Covid restrictions, we have been listening to a different song each week and learning to apply concepts such as pitch, tone and tempo to describe the music. We have listened to a wide variety of genres including folk and classical.

We then progress to dance where our focus has been on Rhythmic Gymnastics. Students in Years 3-6 have been learning basic positions such as straddles, pikes and tucks and how to incorporate these into dance using chosen apparatus.

I have uploaded onto Microsoft Teams in your child’s Performing Arts channel some videos of them presenting their dances. All of Years 3 and 4 are uploaded and some of Years 5 and 6 with the balance to be uploaded next week.

I encourage you to ask your child about what they have been doing in Performing Arts and to watch their performances. I am very impressed by what they have learnt in such a short period of time and how enthusiastic they are!
