Principal Talk with Mrs. Lowe

Lockdown Learning

I would like to congratulate everyone for the way you have picked up Remote Learning yesterday and run with it. With only a relatively small number of glitches to work through, I believe Day One was successful. A huge thanks to Mrs Tarlinton and Mrs Hewitt for their technical expertise!

It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces in our class TEAMS Meetings and to see many tasks completed and submitted online. The work, as you can imagine, takes different children varying amounts of time to complete, so please just work through what your child can in their allocated time. There will be tasks that your child may not be able to complete, that is okay, your child's teacher is just trying to make sure there is enough available. Your teacher will also send a message when they have other work they would like you to collect, readers to change or require work to be submitted. This will be through contact-less means in the Old Hall.

Each day under the daily work post, ask your child to write their name to 'sign-in' for roll-call. This is one way we can monitor attendance. We appreciate that children will be working on tasks at different times to suit their families schedules, so this can happen at any time during the day.

Regarding our staff onsite- at this stage teaching staff are scheduled to supervise at school one day per week. On their supervision day, they will not be online commenting or providing feedback and there will be no scheduled class TEAMS meeting. They will catch up on these tasks the following day. Work will still be posted and need to be completed. Please ensure you and your child are only corresponding with staff within work hours.

With students spending more time online through remote learning commitments, it may be timely to remind everyone about safe online practices and responsible behaviour. Useful resources can be found at the Australian Government’s eSafety Commissioner website.

The NSW Premier announced today that for regional NSW, our lockdown will continue until Saturday 28 August. Currently, most classes have the resources required at home to continue Remote Learning next week.

I wish you the very best for the week ahead and leave you with some wise words to consider as you embark on another week of Remote Learning.

The School Explorers

Unfortunately, the School Explorers program is on hold whilst we are in lockdown. We will let you know as soon as this can commence again.
