Tell Us What You Think
It is that time of the year again when you get a chance to tell us what you think about St Mary's Primary School via an anonymous survey.
This year the Archdiocese has engaged the company, The Learning Bar, and their 'Tell Us What You Think' surveys for parents, students in Years 4 - 6 and staff. The change in supplier will provide more detailed data to our Head Office and schools and, in particular, more information relating to wellbeing.
The data we receive helps inform our Annual Improvement and Strategic Plans.
The survey window is open from today until Friday 11 June. To complete the survey visit the link below or paste it into your browser.

Please remember that we welcome direct feedback at any time and would hope that you would see your child's teacher or me immediately should any concerns arise.
Connecting Math Concepts
From Week 3 this term, our staff from Kindergarten to Year Five have been delivering a direct instruction mathematics program called "Connecting Math Concepts" (CMC). Connecting Math Concepts introduces ideas gradually and teaches students the connections between concepts. It focuses on the big ideas of mathematics and teaches explicit strategies that enable students to master difficult ideas such as ratios, proportions, probability, functions and data analysis. Detailed explanations and guided practice move students toward independent work, ensuring that they gain success and confidence as mathematical thinkers.
This highly researched and tested program teaches the students to become capable problem solvers and to be able to think and communicate mathematically. Through direct instruction (repetition, recitation and frequent practise), Connecting Math Concepts provides a thorough understanding of basic skills, shows how mathematical concepts are linked together, and builds sophisticated problem-solving strategies.
With Connecting Math Concepts, all concepts are learned and assimilated through use. New concepts are presented incrementally and extended into subsequent lessons. Students move forward in small steps, learning and applying many topics in each lesson. Students remember more and develop a depth of understanding needed for advanced mathematics.
Sporting Achievements
Congratulations to all of our students who have competed at representative level this term. It is a huge achievement to be selected to be part of representative team and to have so many of our St Mary's students experiencing this success is something of which we can be proud. The student's hard work and dedication to their sport, and the parent's unwavering support of their children's endeavours is to be commended.
Please see Mrs Sally Croker's Representative Sport column for information about our students latest sporting achievements.
